Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum Review

Updated: Aug 10, 2020

Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum ($42 USD for 30ml)⠀

Volition Beauty sent this over to me to celebrate this serum's birthday 🎂 ⠀

Food for Thought: Strawberries contain 14% more Vitamin C than Oranges!⠀

💭 Thoughts - I’m diggin' it so far, seriously. I love that it doesn’t have the off-putting, hot-dog water smell that so many Vitamin C serums are notorious for. It evokes a faint scent of cucumber, actually. It’s very light and sinks right into my skin. Others I’ve talked to said it was a bit on the sticky side for them, but I didn’t experience that. I also love that it’s a very hydrating step before my moisturizer. For me this was just a really great antioxidant serum, I didn’t experience any brightening or fading of hyperpigmentation overall, I have been having bad luck with Vitamin C serums as of late.

🔬 Where they could have done better? ⠀

Packaging. Some brands obsess over this, others direct their energy elsewhere. Either way it's not necessarily an exact science- and I’m glad it’s in an air-restrictive glass bottle, but the pump applicator is not the best vessel for this Vitamin C. Not only that, but I'm pretty in order for Vitamin C to maintain its potency it needed to be in dark, opaque packaging. I feel like if you give the packaging the same applicator as Snow Mushroom Water Serum or Hibiscus Unspottable Oil, this product will be perfect. As is, however, I'm just not in love with it.⠀

I think Volition Beauty is so cool because of how they involve their members in bringing products to life. They do this through fans submitting ideas and their voting process uses campaigns to let the community decide which product should come to life. That is so neat and engaging!⠀
