Sustainable Fashion With Miakoda

Updated: Aug 10, 2020

It may seem counter-intuitive to advocate for slow fashion and then partner with brands and provide links.⠀

I just want to clarify I will ONLY share brands that I believe are WORTH the mullah. As consumers, we vote with our dollar and set expectations for products, brands, and services. I cast my vote for brands that are conscious, sustainable, and/or ethical and inclusive. I share them with you for visibility and to encourage you to think about the message you send with the dollar you spend.⠀

With all the housekeeping out the way, let's talk about Miakoda.⠀

Who are they?⠀

Miakoda is a Native-American name meaning: Power of the Moon. Julia Ahrens founded this brand with her sister in New York on an ethos that states: no harm.⠀

The duo strives each day to protect animal rights as well as labor and environmental rights. Julia designs spectacular everyday essentials with a focus on eco-friendly, organic, and vegan materials! Did I mention they feature full-figured models and WOC on their website? You know I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for representation that’s authentic and fun!⠀

Miakoda let me select a few pieces to share with you guys. I'm infatuated with the wide leg cropped pants (currently out of stock) and The Tank Crop Top pictured here. Quality pieces that hold up well in the wash. The fabric is soft and comfortable and super breathable.⠀

Fit: I'd say the sizing is true-to-size. For reference, I'm a size 10/12 so I chose XL - everything fits me perfectly! They offer sizes from XS-XXL and they are currently in the development phase of expanding the sizes up to 4X.⠀

Packaging: It came in a recycled plastic bag from EcoEnclose, which can also be reused again and again. Each piece was also in reusable organic cotton fair trade bags!

Price: I would say these prices are relatively affordable compared to other popular brands. Nothing is over USD 135.
